Weaving On — 200 Years of Kurume Kasuri　つなぐ 200年以上続く久留米絣を

A short documentary for Shimogawa Orimono, a Kurume Kasuri weaving house in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.
It is the only place in the country where kasuri is still produced at scale—yet the number of makers continues to decline each year.
Guided by “Weaving Connections,” the film captures three generations working side by side, keeping century-old looms running through daily care and repair.
Filmed through repeated visits since December, the work portrays a quiet determination to carry this craft into the future.

福岡県八女市にある久留米絣の織元「下川織物」のショートドキュメンタリー。
国内で唯一、絣を量産できる技術と生産体制が残る一方で、担い手が年々減りつづけている現実がある。本作では、下川織物の「つなげる」という意思を軸に、三世代が同じ工場で働き、100年前の織機を現在も丁寧に手入れしながら織り続ける日々を捉えた。昨年12月から工場に通い、対話を重ね、八女の地に流れる空気を肌で感じながら、未来へつないでいくための下川織物の静かな意志を映像で表現した。
本作は、下川織物敷地内のギャラリーショップで常設上映されている。
